MICHAEL D. RESNICK
Michael’s work with the firm began in May 2018. By way of background, he went to undergraduate school at the University of Vermont and attended law school, graduating magna cum laude, at the Roger Williams University School of Law. Thereafter, Michael was a member of the Rhode Island Supreme Court Trial Law Clerk Department and also served as a Special Assistant Attorney General to the Rhode Island Office of the Attorney General, Civil Litigation
Division. In his role as a Special Assistant Attorney General, Michael defended the state and its employees in a wide variety of matters including, but not limited, to the following subject matters: employment discrimination; constitutional depravation; administrative agency adjudication; healthcare reform; pension reform; collective bargaining; property damage; breach
of contract; and a wide variety of tort claims. During this time, and before embarking into private practice, Michael was a participant in a myriad of educational seminars and workshops offered by the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island’s Federal Litigation Program.
After moving into private practice, Michael worked for a national firm, which focused on complex litigation, multi-district litigation and class action litigation in areas of both products liability and consumer protection, as well as business. During his tenure, Michael presented oral argument before the First Circuit Court of Appeals.
Additionally, Michael has cultivated a wealth of knowledge in the licensure and regulation of both medical and recreational marijuana regimes—having successfully licensed and served as in-house legal counsel to several licensees and also served as a consultant to many more. By extension of this work, Michael also engages in a range of transactional work having negotiated
and drafted purchase and sales agreement, assert purchase agreements, easement agreements, operating agreements, as well as loan documents and security agreements.
Michael has become an integral part of KSR&P’s commercial business and construction litigation teams. Michael is a skilled advocate appearing before various municipal boards in all aspects of land use planning. Moreover, he continues to expand his transactional practice and is always involved in new projects for clients that involve many legal disciplines. In his leisure, Michael is a skier, surfer and scuba diver with adoration for the ocean, travel and great food.
